Engineering or Management Blunder?Nov 17, 2013

Fail. The standard 2" opening for the barrel did not fit. Worse, either Engineering or Management failed to realize that at least some of us don't necessarily store our 459lb barrels near a drain. The hose that is provided with this pump is just long enough to dump your 55 gallons on the floor. If you want to pour it into a bucket and haul it to drain maybe 1200 times, then good for you. Good to replace a few days at the gym doing lunges. I took a picture of a makeshift clamp that I tried to attach to a male-female connector and then to a garden hose. It did not work, no matter how hard I tried to tighten the clamp. The hose on the siphon is so large that it would take a lot of pumping to get rid of all the air, so that the water continuously drains. That is the purpose of this isn't it? The ability to pump and then have the thing self-drain, right? Because if that is not the point and the idea is that you just stand there and pump this thing until 55 gallons is gone, then ignore everything I just said, except for the 55 gallon puddle on your floor because of the short hose thy give you.
The hose should be smaller in diameter and it should have some sort of BUILT IN connector for garden hoses. It would be nice to be able to use a garden house to get water from point A to point B. For now, the Engineers and/or the Management of this company has decided that getting the water out of the barrels is all they need to be responsible for. Where the water goes after that is our problem. Sound like a good cost-cutting achievement.

I was thinking about buying a utility pump to drain my water cleaning tanks...(50 gal) this was way cheaper and pretty sure it is way faster than most small utility pumps anyway. Does 50 gal in less than 5 minutes. impressive.
